Job Description

Instrumentation and Controls Technican 2.3 2.3 out of 5 stars 643 Industrial Park Road, Hardin, MT 59034 General Job Summary The position reports directly to the Plant Manager.
EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS/DESIRED 1.
Familiar with all types of transmitters including but not limited to:
  • Temperature transmitters
  • Level transmitters
  • Pressure transmitters
  • Flow transmitters 2.
Calculations and conversions to millivolts, milliamps and other signals.
Some examples are:
  • Output signals from level transmitters in open and closed vessels
  • Flow transmitters in inches of H2O to actual flow
  • Milivolts outputs from different types of thermo-couples
  • Cold junction references and their purposes 3. Very knowledgeable of PLC logic, digital and analog logic and ladder logic:
  • Capable of programming, wiring, and trouble shooting PLC control systems, including inputs and outputs to and from field devices.
  • Capable of programming and trouble shooting Distributive Control Systems, including the wiring to and from field devices.
4. Must be able to read electrical drawings, PID's and control system drawings. 5. Familiar with pneumatic controls, valves, and transducers. 6. Familiar with fire pumps and controls. 7. Familiar with emergency systems including fire alarm systems. 8. MS Office Suite or similar experience helpful. 9. High School diploma or equivalent required 10. Minimum of 4 years on the job training required. 11. Associates degree in Electronics desired 12. Approved field equivalent training 13. Testing and on the job evaluations may be required. 14. Valid Driver's License 15. Familiar with Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS) 16. Attention to detail
DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Maintenance of electrical systems and instrumentation of the plants. 2. Maintenance of the DCS and PLC equipment. 3. Calibrate plant instruments and maintain calibration equipment. 4. Training and continuing education for plant instrumentation. 5. Maintain professional attitude with owners and plant visitors. 6. Cooperate with managers. 7. Other duties may be assigned.
