Simulation Technician 3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars 874 American Pacific Drive, Henderson, NV 89014 Job Summary The Simulation Technician will have the responsibility of assisting in the installation, maintenance, and general operation of sophisticated high, mid, and low fidelity simulation equipment, task trainers, audio-visual equipment, and computers used in the training of healthcare professionals. This role will provide exceptional customer service, including the ability to express technical information effectively to faculty, students, and non-technical persons. Knowledge and experience with clinical training equipment and simulation lab operations are essential for success in this role. Duties Maintains current knowledge of simulation/lab equipment and operation manuals. Programs simulator software to model simulator's physiological response to instructor specifications. Operates patient simulators and cameras for the duration of simulations. Operates and maintains audio-visual and debriefing systems. Sets up and takes down simulation laboratory equipment. May involve rapid turnover of simulation lab set up. Maintains and repairs all simulation equipment, including: Patient simulators, computers, monitors, and a variety of medical equipment. Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and contacts Sim Team members as needed. Collaborates with supervisor to organize, maintain, and restock skills lab and simulation laboratory supplies. Provides technical support for task trainers and multimedia peripherals including: Beds/examination tables, headwalls, patient monitors, and other health care equipment Vital sign monitors Provides theatrical production (costuming and moulage) for simulation scenarios as requested. Mixes fake body fluids and creates wounds. Provides technical assistance, support, and training to faculty, instructors, and staff in the use of simulation equipment. Provides recommendations on equipment, supplies, and materials. Collects data for ongoing research, grant, or other requested requirements. Sets up and maintains surgical/procedural simulators. Sets up and maintains computer-based training programs. Maintains simulation activities and learner confidentiality. Releases case material. Updates simulation calendars. Manages Envoy guest management systems. Manages campus group event management. Manages DocuSign forms. Performs other job-related duties as required.
Education & Experience:
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years of experience in administrative/coordination related roles. 2+ year(s) of experience in a simulation lab with simulation software, standardized patients, and mannequins. Familiarity with the operation of personal computers. Experience supporting multiple individuals and organizations. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred:
Familiarity with medical terminology and audio-visual equipment. Considerable experience in logistics tracking for simulation and OSCE outcomes. OSCE experience ranging from simple student group breakdown to complex rotation schedules.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) to interact with and work effectively with other faculty, staff, students, and vendors in a positive, helpful, and cooperative working relationship. Clinical knowledge and experience working in a healthcare-related field such as EMT, paramedic, or other allied health profession certification and training. Experience with providing technical support in networking, computer hardware, or software. Follows best practices as established by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSiH). Skills in operating a PC and Mac with experience in MS Office and the ability to learn additional software programs, including audiovisual and computerized simulation equipment. Knowledge of the operation of standard audio-visual equipment: projectors, microphones, portable screens, media players, etc. Mechanical skills to competently maintain and use equipment in the simulation center. Organizational and time management skills to keep materials in order, track various projects, maintain files, and follow through assignments to completion. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information. Ability to quickly learn new technology. Ability to express technical information clearly and simply to non-technical persons. Physical ability to lift, move, maintain, and set up computer, audio-visual, and simulation lab equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
