Equipment Mechanic Job Description Perform routine maintenance and repairs on construction equipment and vehicles, including but not limited to, excavators, bulldozers, graders, and trucks. Diagnose mechanical issues and determine the best course of action for repairs. Conduct inspections to ensure equipment is in safe and optimal working condition. Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed. Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide on-site repairs as needed. Collaborate with the construction team to ensure minimal downtime of equipment. Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while performing duties. Keep up-to-date with the latest industry trends and advancements in equipment technology. Dismantle machines or equipment to examine parts for defects or to remove defective parts. Replace defective parts with new parts or repair or reproduce parts from various kinds of metal. Assemble and test operate machines to verify correction of malfunction and to confirm that they meet manufacturers' specifications. Overhaul gas or diesel engines. Essential Skills Diesel repair Diesel engine maintenance General mechanical troubleshooting Preventive maintenance Engine repair Electrical systems Transmission repair Ability to use mechanics hand tools, torch, and welder Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (GED) from an accredited educational institution OR relevant experience and/or training CDL B Clean driving record Customer service and teamwork skills General computer knowledge Familiarity with Caterpillar software (ET & SIS) Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
