Job Description

Building Automation System (BAS) Technician SmartCon Solutions Miami-Dade County, FL Building Automation System (BAS) Technician SmartCon specializes in designing, installing, and programming occupancy-based HVAC controls and lighting solutions to reduce energy costs in the hospitality, multi-family, military, and higher education markets. Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Automation Technician to join our innovative team serving the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area and contribute to the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of cutting-edge building automation systems within the Metropolitan area. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in HVAC systems, low voltage wiring, and a proven track record of working with advanced technologies such as Tridium/Niagara N4, LoRa/LoRaWAN, and RF Mesh Networks. This position offers an opportunity to work on complex projects, enhance technical expertise, and play a pivotal role in the advancement of smart building solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of building automation systems, ensuring optimal performance and energy efficiency.
  • Collaborate with clients, electrical installers, and internal teams to execute service quoted projects, maintaining open communication channels throughout.
  • Analyze, optimize, and document building control and mechanical system performance, providing insightful recommendations for improvements.
  • Conduct DDC controls troubleshooting and replace failed components as required to restore system functionality.
  • Serve as a technical expert and liaison to customers, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and providing comprehensive training on system operation.
  • Implement, modify, and manage software code for building automation systems, ensuring proper functioning and compatibility.
  • Set up and troubleshoot new site workstations and networks as needed, maintaining a strong focus on system integration.
  • Lead and coordinate the work of junior technicians, providing guidance, training, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Assist with project scoping, development, and management, working closely with the sales team and project managers.
  • Maintain detailed records according to company standards related to programming, maintenance, and service of building automation management systems.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma is required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license is essential, with the ability to commute in the Miami / Fort Lauderdale Metropolitan area from our local office.
  • 3+ years of HVAC experience.
  • 3+ years of Low Voltage Wiring experience. `
  • 3+ years' experience in at least one of the following: Tridium / Niagara N4, LoRa / LoRaWAN, RF Mesh Networks.
  • Great troubleshooting skills We value:
  • Niagara N4 Certification
  • Technical knowledge of commercial HVAC equipment, including AHUs, VAVs, boilers, and chillers.
  • Familiarity with BACnet, MODbus, and Lonworks protocols for BAS integration.
  • Networks experience (analyze, test, troubleshoot, and evaluate existing network systems, such as local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), cloud networks, servers, and other data communications networks)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Effective organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Prior experience in training junior technicians and leading by example.
