MySQL Help desk VPN Full Job Description We are a growing company looking for a multitalented IT professional to handle on-site support, LAMP stack development, and Linux system administration. If you thrive on variety and enjoy switching hats between coding, troubleshooting, and infrastructure maintenance, this is the role for you. Location & On-Site Expectation Hybrid role with approximately 50% on-site work for key meetings, milestones, and day-to-day IT support. Job Description In this unique position, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining LAMP-based applications, providing on-site user support, and managing our Linux infrastructure. You'll work closely with both our development team and IT staff to ensure smooth operations across the board. Key Responsibilities LAMP Development (50% of responsibilities) Write clean, efficient PHP code following best practices and coding standards. Integrate and manage MySQL databases for application data storage and retrieval. Configure and optimize Apache on Linux servers to handle web traffic effectively. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and deploy new features. On-Site IT Support (25% of responsibilities) Serve as a go-to member of the on-site IT team for troubleshooting hardware, software, and peripheral issues on desktops and laptops. Monitor and address network connectivity problems; escalate complex issues if needed. Assist with employee onboarding/offboarding by setting up workstations, user accounts, and access controls. Document common support fixes and maintain a knowledge base for end users. Linux System Administration (25% of responsibilities) Manage Linux servers (primarily Ubuntu) for performance, availability, and security. Implement system updates, patches, and backups to maintain a stable environment. Monitor system health, respond to alerts, and proactively optimize infrastructure. Apply security best practices (e.g., firewalls, intrusion detection) to protect company data. Collaboration & Growth Work with IT and dev teams to streamline processes, including CI/CD pipelines if needed. Provide input on technology strategy, architecture, and process improvements. Stay informed about industry trends and emerging tools to enhance overall productivity and security. Requirements LAMP Stack Proficiency Strong PHP skills (experience with vanilla PHP or framework-based code). Solid understanding of MySQL (schema design, queries, indexing). Familiarity with Apache/Nginx configuration on Linux-based systems. Basic front-end knowledge (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus. IT Support Experience 2+ years in a technical support or help desk role (hardware, software, networking). Knowledge of Windows, macOS, and/or Linux client OS troubleshooting. Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical users. Linux Administration Experience with server installation, configuration, and maintenance (preferably Ubuntu). Basic networking (DNS, DHCP, VLANs) and security fundamentals (firewalls, intrusion detection). Familiarity with automation/scripting tools (Bash, Python) is a bonus. Soft Skills Excellent problem-solving and multitasking abilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Team-oriented mindset and eagerness to learn.
