ELECTRICIAN PURPOSE
Master Electrician/Technician successfully installs, maintains, and repairs electrical and instrumentation/control systems including high voltage. Makes sure that electrical and instrumentation/control systems are safe and running efficiently.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Electrical License At the time of hiring no license is required. After 12-months or Step 3 in Progression Training Unit (PTU) process an Electrical Journeyman License is required from the state of Michigan. Section 608 Technician Certification for Refrigeration Handling At the time of hiring no licenses is required. After 18-months or Step 4 of the PTU a Section 608 Technician Certification for refrigerant handling is required from the Refrigeration Environmental Protection Association, Inc. (R.E.P.A.) or equivalent.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(Tasks): 1. Knowledge of National Electric Code and best practices. All work must remain in compliance with the national Electric Code. 2. Knows OSHA standards, company safety programs and policies relative to the installation and repair of systems. 3. Enforces safety standards. 4. Install new or existing electrical and instrumentation/control systems. The Master Electrician/Technician may design or assist in the electrical design process. 5. Performs electrical maintenance to a variety of plant electrical and distribution equipment 480v or lower by rebuilding, installing, inspecting, adjusting, repairing, testing and/or modifying circuit breakers, relays (as they apply to plant auxiliaries, etc.), motors, power and control wiring, conduit, oil and gas ignition systems, exciters, switchgear, disconnects, general lighting and communications systems, etc. 6. Carries out verbal or written operating orders and instructions of Plant Manager. 7. Inspects and tests components of electrical and instrumentation/control systems. 8. Ensures that all necessary materials are available and arrive at the job site. 9. Monitors the performance of all equipment, gauges and charts in the satellite boilers, chilled water, wastewater treatment plants and buildings; records statistical data concerning plant operations; maintains, operates, repairs, and replaces equipment, as necessary. 10. Maintains and repairs malfunctions at the satellite, chilled water, wastewater treatment plants and buildings, repairs gauges, pumps, filters and other controls and equipment. 11. Must be able to find the root cause of issues and think logically about solutions. 12. Reads and interprets operating orders, blueprints, schematics, and sketches, etc. 13. Must be able to use an array of tools and diagnostic devices to service and install parts. 14. Inspects assigned plant equipment for efficiency and safety. Looks for defects in equipment, faulty operating, poor housekeeping, fire hazards, unsafe working conditions, etc., and takes corrective action, as necessary. Troubleshoots assigned plant equipment. Recommends and assists in developing changes in operating procedures. 15. Accepts or rejects (as delegated by Plant Manager) new, rebuilt, or repaired equipment for services. 16. Keeps Plant Manager and other operators informed of status of equipment and conditions and prepared repair requests as needed. 17. Uses computer terminal to process work request/work orders to obtain and enter information in the performance of maintenance duties. 18. Assists other vendor representatives with the repair of plant equipment as needed. 19. Must know, practice, and comply with all Company safety and health policies and procedures applicable to work being performed. Furthermore, must write Safe Job Procedures and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) when requested. 20. Must be willing and able to work assigned shift schedules, long hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends. May be canvassed by group seniority to work at other local Company location as needed or during plant emergency that may arise. 21. Complete all paperwork on time such as (but not limited to) time sheets, logs, daily reports, and any other reports as requested. 22. Quickly respond to emergency call outs.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(Tasks): 1. Assist other employees of any classification as directed. 2. Performs housekeeping duties as assigned and directed including cleaning motors, pumps, control panels, floors, restrooms etc. 3. Assist and fill in positions for others as directed 4. Perform other work as directed. Assist with the training of other personnel as required 5. Continue educational growth by attending Company sponsored classes and seminars.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school graduate or GED. 2. Must have 5+ years in the electrical and/or instrumentation/controls trade. 3. Must have good eyesight (able to distinguish colors), hearing and manual dexterity. 4. Must have the ability to work independently or alongside others as part of a team. 5. Must have valid State Driver's License 6. Must be able and willing to work in a variety of environments, such as cold weather, confined spaces, high areas, areas of increased temperature and humidity. 7. Must be capable of heavy lifting (30#), climbing steps, ladders, and scaffolding. 8. Must be able to perform practical calculations in arithmetic involving fractions and decimals and have the knowledge of common, weights and measures. 9. Must be able to stand for long periods and perform repetitious tasks. 10. Must be willing and able to work any given shift and be available for emergency callouts when needed. 11. Must have a good mechanical aptitude, be able to read precision measuring equipment and have a skilled use of hand tools. 12. Must be able to perform given tasks with little supervision. 13. Must present a good company image when dealing with visitors, customers, and vendors. 14.
