Job Description
Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant (MA) Supervisor is a key member of the care team. The primary responsibility of the Medical Assistant Supervisor is to provide efficient patient flow to include patient intake, pre-visit preparation, medication administration, assisting in procedures, patient education and closing the visit. The MA Supervisor works under the direction and supervision of the Nurse Manager. Aids the physician, mid-level provider, nurse, and patient; provides compassionate quality care to the patients, within the scope of practice outlined by state or federal law.Supervisory Responsibilities:
The MA Supervisors responsibilities are an expansion of the existing MA responsibilities. The MA Supervisor will serve as a mentor and direct supervisor for existing MAs. The MA Supervisor will work alongside the Nursing staff to complete staff training and competency assessments. They are responsible for timecard management, creating MA schedule, and performance management to include performance evaluations, coaching, staff developments, and disciplinary action. This role is responsible for tracking, training, competency completion, gathering feedback, and reporting feedback to Nurse Manager. Responsible for keeping an excellent level of competency in both clinical and electronic health record skills.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Administrative Functions:
Medical Assistant Supervisor is responsible for knowing and adhering to their scope of practice. Work in a team environment. Promotes a patient centered environment. Help manage provider panel, plays key role in the documentation of clinical measures. Conduct pre-visit planning; pursue referral, lab, and x-ray reports. Obtain and document consents. Responsible for efficient and accurate patient intake to include but not limited to: Identify patient. Take and record vital signs (to include blood pressure, pulse, respirations, pulse oximetry, height, and weight). Chief complaint. Conduct medication reconciliation. Perform applicable screenings i.e., vision screening, electrocardiogram, and operation of pulse oximeter, audiometer, nebulizer, spirometer, urine dip, and blood sugar. Prepare patient for examinations or procedures including positioning, draping, shaving, and disinfecting treatment sites. Apply motivational interviewing techniques in helping patients set self- management goals. Conduct patient education in preparation for procedures, diagnostic test, etc. Assists the physician with examination, treatments, minor surgery, dressing changes and splinting. Assist the provider in the collection of specimens such as pap smears and throat cultures. Administer medication via oral, topical, vaginal, rectal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intradermal routes; documents all medications given thoroughly. Prepare and replenish supplies in the treatment room and exam rooms; maintain exam rooms in an orderly and constant state of readiness for incoming patients. Perform historical immunization data entry and print immunization forecast. Sterilizes instruments and assumes maintenance of diagnostic and therapeutic equipment. Dispose of contaminated, disposable, and outdated items per protocol. Follow established standards of documentation. Responsible for accurate and timely documentation of the following, to include, but not limited to patient intake, hybrid process, clinical procedures, medication/immunization administration, pay for performance forms, phone calls, prescription refills, and result notification. Assist the provider in closing the visit to include but not limited to: Review care plan/discharge instructions with patient. Hand out hard copy of prescriptions if any. Print and reinforce patient education. Demonstrates willingness to assist co-workers whenever needed. Maintains good working relationship with all clinic personnel. Reviews patient records/forms for accuracy and completion. Responsible for attending, facilitating, and actively participating in required meetings, huddles, and webinars. Observe all DAP Health policies and procedures. Deliver care in accordance with established standard of care and accepted community standards. Understand the organizational commitment to provide high quality patient care. Other duties as assigned.Clinical Functions:

Creates and promotes a team environment. Creates and promotes a culture of excellent customer. Create and publish the MA schedule adhering to all California wage and hour requirements and guidelines. Monitor and maintain timecards for MAs. Provide Nurse Manager with necessary timekeeping/scheduling reports. Rounds and coaches all Medical Assistants. Assist Nurse Manager with supply ordering/inventory management. Mentors new Medical Assistants. Instructs trainees in the importance of accuracy, neatness, efficiency, resourcefulness, and good work habits. Provide training to existing staff on new initiatives. Assists Nurse Manager with administering competency testing. Monitor successful implementation; gather feedback on process improvement. Assist in the testing process of new initiatives, collects results and reports findings. Able to deliver quick service recovery for patients/staff. Act as Manager on Duty (MOD) when scheduled by Manager. Maintain excellent proficiency in Electronic Health Records. Utilizes different methods of teaching to cover the different learning styles. Able to select orders to be added into the EHR followingCMS CPOE
guidelines. Responsible for collection and approval of timecards and benefit requests for staff under their supervision. Facilitates processing of payroll by submitting timecards and benefit requests to the Accounting Department in the time frame prescribed by DAP Health Policy and the needs of the Department. Provides staff training as necessary and ensures compliance with new employee and annual training requirements. Evaluates staff performance either directly or in collaboration with co-management. Conducts employee corrective action, provides guidance, and conducts annual evaluations. Responsible for ensuring staff compliance with all organization policies and procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.Strategic:

Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience): Graduate of approved high school or GED equivalent Medical assistant certificate or signed training on venipuncture, infectious control, patient privacy, basic anatomy and physiology by Registered Nurse or Physician Must be a qualified medical assistant (CCMA, CMA, RMA, or NCMA) and maintain their certification as needed. Three years of work experience as a medical assistant All staff that is presently working within a clinic is required to have a Current and Valid CPR and First Aide certification on file with the Human Resources Department. This is for clinical and administrative staff. This new license requirement is mandatory for continued employment, CPR and First Aide certification must be obtained through the American Heart Association. Internet certificates do not comply and for this reason are not valid.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
