POSITION SUMMARY:
Purchases, implements, manages and supports secure office network, office computing equipment & peripherals (both Windows & Mac), office phones, email accounts, software licenses and related technologies.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Office Network Infrastructure (20%)
  • Purchases, installs, administers, and supports office wired and wireless network infrastructure: Implements network solutions by cabling (if needed), developing and applying device configurations, verifying connectivity, and testing proper operation.
Supports network infrastructure by monitoring performance, making incremental configuration changes when required, and troubleshooting network device failures.
  • Troubleshoots user connectivity problems on the wired and wireless networks: Investigates issues using a variety of network and authentication monitoring tools to pinpoint the root cause. Solves connectivity problems and follows up with end users to ensure satisfactory resolution.
  • Supports secure remote VPN access to network resources.
  • Deploys and supports critical network infrastructure and authentications services such as DNS, DHCP, Duo authentication, Microsoft authentication, etc.
  • Manages network firewall: Develops and maintains device configurations as the network grows. Creates and deploys firewall rules as required for secure access to applications. Audits firewall rules to ensure that only business critical access is permitted. Office Computing & Productivity Infrastructure (80%)
  • Purchases, installs, and supports office computing equipment (Windows, Macs, iPads, etc.) and associated peripherals (printers, scanners, etc.)
  • Purchases, installs, and supports office desk phone system (Mitel) as well as company cell phones
  • Provisions, administers and supports office productivity platforms including: Microsoft accounts (email, calendaring, Sharepoint, shared storage) Central Windows server Password resets
  • Investigates and resolves email delivery issues
  • Purchases and maintains office software licenses
  • Supports and troubleshoots office applications such as Quickbooks, HCCS, HeavyBid, Equipment360
  • Supports and troubleshoots company's social media accounts such as Facebook and LinkedIn
CONTACTS
  • Proactively maintains communications with office staff to reach satisfactory resolution of incidents and service requests.
  • Coordinates with vendors to resolve hardware and software problems.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
  • Does not supervise other individuals, but is expected to coordinate with vendors and contractors as needed to complete projects
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT
  • Ability to travel to various locations and able to lift and carry equipment
  • Able to maneuver in tight spaces, to bend, reach, stoop, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills & ability:
  • General knowledge of router and switch configuration and troubleshooting
  • General knowledge of wireless access points configuration and troubleshooting
  • General knowledge of firewall and VPN configuration and troubleshooting
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Exchange Online administration
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows server system administration
  • Working knowledge of Mac operating systems and administration
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, focus and concentrate despite constant interruptions, deal with difficult and/or upset individuals, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to learn new hardware and software independently
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex problems, provide guidance and instruction to customers, interact with individuals of varying levels of expertise, and the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users
  • Ability to perform under limited supervision. Independent problem-solving ability is critical
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills
Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma required
  • Some college desired (computer science or equivalent)
  • A+ Hardware/Operating Systems Certification desired
  • Microsoft 365
Certified:
Fundamentals, preferred
  • Microsoft 365
Certified:
Messaging Administrator Associate, desirable
  • 1+ years Windows server system administration
  • 1+ years Microsoft Exchange Online
  • 2+ years wireless networking (IEEE 802.11)
  • 2+ years network routing and switching
  • Customer service experience
