Medical Assistant - Multispecialty - Endo/Diabetes Power Personnel Sunnyvale, CA 94087 Are you a dedicated Medical Assisting passionate about making a difference in pediatric endocrinology and diabetes care? Join a multispecialty clinic, where you'll support children and adolescents with endocrinology, diabetes, and other specialized needs. In this fast-paced role, you'll manage both front and back-office duties, including taking vitals, administering pediatric vaccinations, performing Point of Care Testing (POCT), and educating families. You'll also assist with scheduling, authorizations, and guiding patients through their healthcare journey. Strong back-office experience, with proficiency in routine examinations and injections/immunizations. Experience in a fast-paced environment within a healthcare setting Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume clinic, managing 100 - 175 patients daily across multiple specialties Exceptional customer service skills, with a welcome and inclusive approach to patients of all backgrounds, including those receiving sensitive services such as gender-affirming care, adolescent reproductive health, and specialty pediatrics Basic Life Support - American Heart Association Must float to support Sunnyvale and Palo Alto Site Preferred Previous work history with Stanford Children's Health (highly preferred) EPIC Experience (highly preferred) Certified Medical Assistant Pediatric experience (highly preferred) Previous experience within Endocrinology and/or Diabetes (highly preferred) Skills & Abilities Ability to interact with families, staff and peers based on the needs of the individual taking into consideration age, cultural, and developmental needs. Knowledge of medical terminology Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area Knowledge of basic computer skills: MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) Ability to speak, read, write and understand effectively at a level appropriate for the job Ability to field phone calls and answer questions Ability to multi-task and to change priorities regularly Ability to adjust communication to fit the needs and level of understanding of the receiver Ability to exercise calmness in stressful situations Responsibilities Escorts patients to exam room; measures and records vital signs. Prepares patient for examination or treatment and performs routine screening tests. Explains treatment procedures to patients. Assists physicians with procedure set-ups, patient procedures and examinations. Administers medication by intradermal, subcutaneous, or intramuscular injections, performs skin tests, venipunctures and other technical supportive services upon the specific authorization and supervision of a licensed physician or surgeon. Administers medication following approved procedures and only after verification of medication and dosage by a licensed person. Performs routine examination and treatment procedures and include applying and removing bandages and dressing, removing sutures and casts, cleaning wounds and applying medications and dressings, performing ear lavage, preparing patients for examinations, and shaving and disinfecting treatment sites. Schedules and edits and maintains patient physician appointments for new and returning patients, using the scheduling system. Collects patient demographic and insurance data and enters into systems as well as assigns medical record numbers. Assures appropriate verifications and authorizations are complete before patient sees provider. Collects and sends specimens to appropriate labs for testing per protocol. Reports patient's concerns and systems, reactions, changes (appropriate to age) to licensed clinic personnel. Documents clinical information, including patient phone calls and maintains accurate and complete patient documentation according to medical profession standards. Processes requests for prescription refills according to established practice. Prepares the necessary equipment and supplies for exam. Maintains inventory of supplies in examination rooms, replenish as required. Maintains clean and orderly exam rooms, hallways, and work areas.
