$ 29.05-50.28 USD UPMC Corporate Facilities Engineering and Maintenance is hiring a Journeyman 2- Locksmith / Carpenter to join our team at the UPMC Presbyterian South Tower. This role will work Monday through Friday during the hours of 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM. The position will require 70% local travel. The role will plan, organize, coordinate and implement a complex mechanical lock and key system to facilitate the continuation of a secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff as well as facility assets. Responsibilities:
Maintain clean and safe work areas, equipment rooms and shop areas. Perform all work following infection control procedures. Inspect, maintain, install, and repair doors and hardware, including fire doors. Record personal work orders and submit hours to supervisor on a daily basis. Inspect, install, and maintain fire rated assemblies per approved life safety plans following UL and manufacturer approved installation and assembly requirements Responsible for setting up appropriate level of infection control containment (ICRA) based on risk level and maintaining the integrity of that containment. Plan, organize, and supervise the specifications. Order and install all selected locations' mechanical locking systems, supplies, and devices. Accomplish repairs to selected locations of locking hardware and lock rekeying and repinning as necessary. Review construction and renovation project documents to provide input on mechanical security systems' specifications, hardware design, and installation. Complete updates to key issue database as needed. Coordinate installation and/or repair for mechanical locking systems through approved vendors or in-house maintenance for selected locations. Provide consultation to departments on the development, design, and installation of mechanical locking devices. Maintain complete records and integrity of master/sub-master keying system for selected locations. Maintain confidentiality of patient, employee, and departmental information. Maintain appropriate tools and equipment in good working order. Maintain adequate levels of supplies to cut keys and repair lock cylinders in a timely manner. Ability to spec out lock hardware that is compatible to work electronic card access systems. Provide coverage and back-up support to the BMS department as needed or required. Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. ALA (Associated Locksmiths of America) Registered Locksmith or three years of work experience with all facets of locksmith duties including, but not limited to, key manufacture, hardware installation, master/sub-master keying system design, lock pinning, including interchangeable commercial cores (i.e., pinning for Best, Corbin Russwin, Sargent), and hardware schedule development. Prior large institutional lock system experience preferred. Knowledge of basic life safety codes. Ability to read and understand technical data, specifications, blueprints, and schematics. Ability to work independently and prioritize work to meet needs of institution. Must be skilled in blueprint reading, shop arithmetic, knowledge of strength of materials and their characteristics. Must be skilled with the use of all woodworking tools. Knowledge of building codes is essential. May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored. No contact with medications is allowed.
