We are seeking a highly qualified candidate to serve as the Department's Accounting Technician 3. In this integral role, you will be at the heart of our fiscal operations
Your Responsibilities:
Perform advanced operating level technical work in the pre-auditing of all payments, travel payments, journal entry vouchers, and internal transfers. Pre-audit duties include verification that requested payments are in compliance with the Department of Administrative Services-State Accounting Enterprise (DAS-SAE) pre-audit procedures and internal controls and that account codes are verified as correct with funds available from either state, federal, or other sources. This responsibility requires knowledge of the DAS-SAE policies and procedures as well as knowledge of the Iowa Advantage Financial system. Apply established accounting concepts and techniques involved in maintaining, adjusting, and balancing a number of accounts within an established accounting system. Review federal project costs, audit state claims for federal aid, and provide documentation or recommend methods required to uphold and record the final settling of the claim. Provide guidance and training to Accounting Technician 2 staff members. Prepare and work contracts, including securing signatures from contractors, monitoring contract balances, working with vendors to ensure that invoices submitted include the required information and are in compliance with contract terms and federal and state policies. Complete biweekly payroll distribution calculations. Candidates are encouraged to include detailed information about their relevant experience in their application, or submit a cover letter and resume in addition to their application.
