Overview Helps to provide direct patient care in all dental specialties, including orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics and oral surgery. Responsibilities 1. Assists the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures, including the preparation and arrangement of needed tools and instruments for scheduled procedures. Hands necessary tools and equipment to the dentist and provides assistance during treatment. 2. Records findings, change barriers, or sterilize equipment. 3. Takes and develops dental radiographs (x-rays). May also take impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth). 4. May ask about the patient's medical history and takes blood pressure and pulse. 5.     • Providing comprehensive pharmacy care and oversight of oncology patients by:
    • Assisting clinicians with selecting appropriate chemotherapy and supportive care regimens
    • Reviewing pathology reports, laboratory values, and concurrent medications for appropriateness and potential medication-related problems
    • Managing adverse effects caused by chemotherapy or disease
    • Conducting new chemotherapy teaching visits with patients and families
    • Prescribing medications in accordance with Oncology Pharmacist Collaborative Practice Agreements
    • Answering drug information questions from the multidisciplinary team
    • Proactively reviewing chemotherapy orders for accuracy and appropriateness
    • Verifying chemotherapy orders and performing a clinical review to ensure doses are correct and hold parameters are met
    • Providing in-service trainings for pharmacy, medical, nursing, and other health care professionals
    • Serving as a preceptor for students/residents rotating through the Ambulatory Oncology clinic and Inpatient Hematology/Transplant service
    • Gathers a complete medication history and reconciles medication lists as applicable and appropriate

Monitors and assures that an adequate level of supplies and patient care equipment are maintained within the Materials Department and appropriate par level supply storage areas. Under limited supervision, resolves and fulfills all customer requests and inquiries. Work situations are routine and physically demanding, requiring organization, attention to detail, customer service skills, and the ability to use multiple software applications during performance of all job duties. Internal contacts include staff and management throughout the organization. External contacts include vendors and suppliers.
    Responsibilities Regulatory:
    1. Adheres to infection prevention protocols when transporting patients, soiled linen, contaminated equipment, and specialty carts. 2. Responds to Supply Chain Management emergency management procedures. 3. Processes hazmat material, and waste following DH policies and procedures. 4. Complies with all Joint Commission and Department of Health requirements and ensures work area is compliant with requirements. 5. Completes any follow up needs for patients as directed by the After Visit Summary (i.e., booking appointments, scheduling lab and radiology exams or arranging for any external procedures). 6. Receives incoming phone calls from providers, other staff or external provider offices and patients. Monitors the waiting room for patients in distress and seeks assistance when needed. Responds to minor patient concerns and complaints using service recovery tactics.
