As an Internal Mortgage Loan Officer (IMLO), you'll leverage your real estate lending experience to provide personalized loan solutions and guide members through the mortgage process while also ensuring a seamless and positive experience throughout. Acting as the member liaison between branches, cross-functional departments and real estate lending representatives, the IMLO is responsible for originating mortgage loans initiated by the member and overseeing the application process. This position is considered a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) as defined by the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 (SAFE Act). The law requires MLO to be registered in the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLSR). What you will need to be successful:
Lending Expertise:
Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in real estate lending, including lending programs, policies, secondary market and applicable laws, regulations and compliance requirements, required. Ability to conduct interviews with members, perform credit and financial analysis and oversee the application process, ensuring a high level of accuracy and member service.
Communication Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to educate members on the loan process and available solutions based on their individual situation. Showcases a strong sense of diplomacy.
Business Development:
Proven ability to establish relationships with real estate professionals in the local community to promote credit union offerings and stay updated on industry trends.
Experience & Education:
At least three years of real estate lending and loan origination experience required. Experience with originating conforming and non- conforming products, and secondary market investor underwriting, selling and servicing experience preferred. High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
