Job Duties:
Heating and Air Conditioning Technician II This position will maintain, diagnose and repair a wide variety of HVAC equipment. Duties include, but are not limited to the following: Maintain and repair air handling units, packaged roof top units, gas furnaces, pumps, motors, valves, bearing assemblies, boilers, chillers, exhaust fans, heat pumps, vav units, dedicated outside air units, variable frequency drives, heat exchangers, mini-split systems, hydronic piping systems, geo-thermal heat pumps & VRF systems. Replace and repair piping, valves & compressors. Operate building automation systems using a laptop computer. Clean ductwork, vents, replace air filters & fabricate sheet metal. Order parts, equipment & supplies. Contact and maintain an open line of communication with customers, contractors and vendors. Perform daily building checks on HVAC systems within the assigned buildings. Take corrective and preventive action as appropriate. This is a safety sensitive position; you must successfully complete a pre-employment physical and pass a mandatory drug test. Minimum Requirements:
MINIMUMS
High school or GED plus four (4) years experience in fields, such as heating and air conditioning repair and maintenance, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities and associated with such positions as Heating and Air Conditioning Technician I; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have, or obtain, a current and valid Virginia or North Carolina drivers license in accordance with Virginia or North Carolina DMV drivers license eligibility requirements.
Special Requirements:
All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to mandatory drug testing. Positive drug test results may result in counseling and/or discipline, up to and including, termination. Successful completion of a pre-employment physical. May require a Commercial driver's license.

Universal Refrigerant Certification Preferences:
HVAC equipment replacement experience Experience with operating and maintaining pumps and motors Experience with building automation systems Experience with compressor replacement Experience with water source heat pumps and with geo-thermal heat pumps Experience repairing commercial refrigeration systems Experience repairing gas furnaces Experience repairing variable frequency drives Experience with roof top unit replacement Universal refrigeration experience and certification Proficient with silver brazing Self starter with the ability to complete repair projects from beginning to end with minimal supervision Strong communication and customer service skills

V RS Contribution:
