At OIT, we provide secure digital services that put Coloradans first. As our new Network Administrator II you will provide advanced technical network communications support. The position possesses functional knowledge pertinent to network (LAN/WAN/Network) communications technologies and is a contributor for the development, testing, implementing, and maintaining of new/existing equipment. Equipment may include but is not limited to routers, switches, wireless access points and controllers, and VoIP technologies. This position recommends, quotes, and obtains approval for network and security design changes that affect all supported sites. You will also diagnose and appropriately handle network outages, including during on-call rotation. Resolving these issues in a timely manner requires a combination of technical knowledge to identify and correct the issue or to escalate the issue with the service provider, if necessary. You will have the opportunity to travel along the western slope of Colorado, configuring and replacing network equipment within multiple client agencies. Hybrid Workplace:
An employee has a set schedule where they work a combination of three days at the assigned State Workplace and two days on a remote basis. The employee may have an assigned workspace or use options such as hoteling to reserve their in-office days. On-call status : May be required to fulfill on-call duties as needed and on a rotational basis. Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights A wide salary range is posted for this position and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and state seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. While all offers are compliant with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, there is no guarantee an offer will be at the top of the posted range based on the salary analysis. This is a skills-based job announcement. The required minimum qualifications and/or education (if substituting for the proven experience, knowledge, and skills), are as follows:
Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum of three (3) years of professional work experience in information technology network operations and support in a managed service or medium to large-professional environment. A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in Cisco router and switch configuration. Technical knowledge of Layer 3 network switching and routing concepts and devices, IP addressing and subnetting, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VoIP understanding, and use of diagnostic tools. Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
Substitutions:
Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications. Training or Certification related to the work assigned to the position will be assigned credit towards substitution for experience and/or education, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications. If the minimum qualifications include a degree requirement, additional appropriate paid or unpaid experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated excellence in customer service skills. Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).
Network protocols:
TCP/IP, QoS/CoS, IPSec, SSL, SNMP, multicast, Netflow/NBAR, OSPF, BGP routing protocols.

VLANs, VLAN Trunking Protocol, Spanning Tree Protocol, and link aggregation and segmentation concepts and technologies. Network Monitoring tools such as SolarwindsAbility to create network diagrams, and perform network installations or upgrades. Experience with structured cable management, knowledge of Layer 1 concepts, technologies, media types and interfaces, and ability to use cable and wireless network testing tools. Ability, implement, and manage ACLsWorking knowledge of Cisco Software-defined network architecture. Ability to use advanced diagnostic tools such as Wireshark to decipher packets and ability to filter on captures, packet flow, and communication streams.
Conditions of Employment:
OIT employees must comply with any screening procedures in place at state entity locations where they might be required to perform work. A pre-employment background check will be conducted as part of the selection process. This position may require travel within the specified geographic area, and to locations across the state as needed.
