Job Description
Overview
This position will be responsible for maintenance/construction activities around high voltage (up to 345 kV) substations and transmission lines. This will require an extensive amount of travel throughout the US. This person must have a "safety first" attitude with an understanding of doing the job right the first time.
Responsibilities
Working in and around wind turbines
Ability to professionally interact with customers and coworkers on a daily basis
Ability to perform maintenance/construction on electrical collection systems including underground cable faults, pad-mount transformers, switchgears, T-Bodies, Splices and Wind turbine wiring up to 34.5 kV
Attend safety meetings and complete safety paperwork on a daily basis
Demonstrate safety as a top priority
Troubleshooting and/or test electrical components and systems
Assist with Servicing underground transmission systems, substations, or fiber optic sensing and control systems
Replace worn or malfunctioning components
Qualifications
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent Minimum one (1) years' experience working in the electrical industry, specifically for preventative maintenance or electrical degree/certificate in lieu of experience Valid Driver's LicenseKnowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected in the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working to the Wanzek's Zero Injury principles Basic computer operation skills and familiarity with internet-based program navigation. Ability to read, interpret and understand basic drawings and schematics Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions with precise execution Experience using basic power tools Ability to follow basic procedures and understand implemented LOTO as an affected individual Able to work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions Comfort working remotely as part of a team with limited supervisory interaction Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the public Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations Ability to interact with clients Communicates well with othersWorking Environment:
Regularly exposed to extreme outside weather conditions and demanding physical situations Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and extreme heat Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration Noise level in the work environment is usually loud What's in it for you Financial WellbeingCompensation:
