Yes The Heavy Equipment Operator performs skilled work in the operation of heavy-duty equipment effectively and safely; and is responsible for maintenance, repairs and adjustments to highly specialized costly equipment requiring constant attention to protect from damage.- Operate a variety of equipment, which may include backhoes, motor graders, dump trucks, tractor, water trucks, stripers, loaders, blades, scrapers, bulldozers, etc.
- Operate a truck trailer with lowboy unit attached for transporting heavy equipment.
- Perform minor maintenance and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Notify supervisory personnel for need of regular, preventative, or emergency maintenance of all heavy equipment.
- Perform duties under varied field conditions.
- May be required to work varied hours depending on work schedules, seasonal schedule, emergencies, etc.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of the operation of hydraulically operated equipment.
- Knowledge of hazards and applicable safety rules and precautions of heavy equipment operation.
- Knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances and rules involved with equipment operation.
- Skill in the operation of various types of heavy trucks and equipment.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to coordinate eye-hand-foot movements.
- Ability to service, adjust and make minor repairs to heavy construction equipment.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community Officials and the public.
- Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; agree to maintain a Drug-free workplace. High School diploma or GED with a minimum of three (3) years' experience in the operation and general maintenance of heavy equipment.
- Class A Commercial Driver's License.
- Required to obtain a Tribal Operator's permit.
