Job Summary :

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing Specialist to join our team. As a Billing Specialist, you will be responsible for accurately and efficiently processing medical billing and coding for our medical office. Your role will involve working with medical records, claim systems, and ensuring timely and accurate billing and collections.

Duties :

• Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate codes using ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding systems
• Ensure accurate and complete documentation of procedures, diagnoses, and treatments
• Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility
• Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies electronically or by mail
• Follow up on unpaid claims and denials, identifying and resolving any billing discrepancies
• Maintain patient billing records, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy
• Collaborate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to resolve billing issues or disputes
• Stay updated on industry changes in medical coding, billing regulations/policies, and compliance requirements

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; certification in Medical Billing/Coding is preferred
• Proven experience as a Billing Specialist or similar role in a medical office setting
• Proficient in using medical coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9)
• Familiarity with medical billing software/systems
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and diagnoses
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing processes
• Strong analytical skills to review medical records for coding accuracy
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
