Job Description

Alaska Roteq Corporation Mechanic in Wasilla , Alaska Overview We are seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in various types of mechanical repairs, particularly with rotating equipment: pumps, turbines, gearboxes, valves, etc. This role also needs to have basic mechanical experience to bolt up flanges, valves, pipeline equipment and hydraulic experience is a huge plus. This is a repair shop working with pumps and equipment coming out of various different applications. Duties Dismantle and inspect pumps, valves and machine equipment, diagnosing mechanical and electrical troubles. Develop work scope for repair reports and documentation of all findings with recommendations for repair. Repairs or prepares parts to be used by handwork, hand grinding, filing, simple lathe and mill work, straightening, fitting, reaming, honing, drilling and dynamic/static balancing as required. Inspects stationary or rotating components, recognizing trouble areas and demonstrates the capability to correct the same. In the absence of the Quality Control Inspector, inspect other Machinists parts for conformance to drawing specifications and Alaska Roteqs quality standards. Uses supplied and personal measuring devices and hand tools necessary for the performance of the assignment. Complete QC packet documentation upon completion of projects. May be required to travel to customers site to inspect and/or repair equipment to resolve problems. Adheres to company quality control policies and processes. Make necessary sketches during disassembly to insure proper machining or re-assembly of equipment being repaired. Assemble and perform electrical connection of new or repaired equipment into complete units or sub-assemblies from blueprints, bill of materials, and verbal instructions to meet tolerance criteria of the basic equipment. Demonstrate ability to perform alignments throughout the assembly Assists in training of assembly or maintenance personnel assigned. Maintains close working relationship with fellow workers to help promote trust, integrity and respect in the workplace. Understands and adheres to company operating policies in the Employee Handbook. Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition. Performs assignments maintaining safe conditions throughout the work area and other areas affected. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED plus a minimum of four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and interpret simple to complicated machining drawings and other documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one exchange with other employees and/or customers of the company. Ability to use basic shop mathematics and has a working knowledge of trigonometry tables for figuring various angles, radii and chords. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. CAT diesel engine experience, highly desired Experience with blowout preventers on the well head, highly desired
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee may occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position may require occasional travel for field projects. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, above this amount will require assistance from other employees or an overhead crane. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
