$27.14/per hour + Benefits Laramie County School District #1 Facility Tech•Steamfitter/Boiler Apprentice Purpose Statement The job of Facility Tech•Steamfitter/Boiler Apprentice is done for the purpose/s of learning the skills necessary to become a journeyman while also being enrolled in a four-year apprenticeship program. You will gain experience maintaining and repairing boilers and piping systems; ensuring completion of projects in accordance with trade standards; providing information on the proper uses of equipment; identifying repair and/or replacement needs; and supporting other skilled trades in completing work assignments. This Job reports to Assigned Supervisor Essential Functions Assist in the installation and maintenance of piping systems under the guidance of a licensed steamfitter/plumber. Learn to read and interpret blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures. Participate in the fabrication, assembly, and disassembly of piping systems. Support the inspection and testing of installed systems to ensure proper functionality. Help in troubleshooting and repairing piping systems, including steam, water, and air lines. Learn to estimate materials and/or equipment needed to complete work projects for the purpose of ensuring timely completion of projects. Learn to implement assigned programs and/or projects (e.g. inspection schedules, preventive maintenance programs, etc.) for the purpose of conforming to established guidelines. Help to inform personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for decisions making, taking appropriate action and/or complying with health and safety regulations. Assist in inspecting completed work (e.g. heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring quality of work standards are met and identifying preventive maintenance requirements. Maintains vehicle, tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition. Assist with maintaining a variety of files and records (e.g. time sheets, inventory, work orders, labor/material estimates, equipment repair manuals, etc.) for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail. Participate in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information to ensure optimal operation of heating and cooling for the District. Learn to repair various types of boilers (e.g. Scotch Marine, condensing, Cast-iron Sectional, etc.) for the purpose of heating facilities as needed. Learn to repair various equipment types (e.g. hot water valves, steam traps, pumps, gas valves, etc.) to maintain a comfortable environment. Responds to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety/operational concerns. Transports a variety of tools, equipment and supplies for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.Job Requirements:

Responsibility Responsibilities include working under supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; tracking budget expenditures. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to impact the organization's services. Work Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent climbing and balancing, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 10% sitting, 45% walking, 45% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness. A willingness to engage and advance skills, abilities and knowledge to the level of an experienced Steamfitter. This is a hands-on learning program to work toward being an advanced steamfitter, it is not an official apprenticeship program..Education:
High school diploma, completion or G.E.D., or equivalent plus vocational school or short-term courses in commercial plumbing, installation, and maintenance.
