Workers Compensation Claims Adjuster 2.8 2.8 out of 5 stars 473 East Carnegie Drive, San Bernardino, CA 92408 Kinetic Personnel Group is recruiting for a Workers Compensation Claims Analyst for a public agency (Government entity). Positions in this class series are involved in examining and adjusting Worker's Compensation claims for the Risk Management Division; positions perform related duties as required. This is the journey level of the series. Positions in this class are characterized by responsibility to independently process a wide variety of workers' compensation claims including those that are complex or sensitive.
Job duties:
Receive and review Workers' Compensation claims and reports and determine if occupational illness or injury is compensable; authorize and compute payment utilizing California State Workers' Compensation Law; advise employee and dependents of entitlement to Workers' Compensation benefits under state law and County policy. Develop documentation for claim reports by requesting substantiating reports from physicians, supervisors, and witnesses; review injury reports for completeness and consistency; resolve discrepancies in data; advise departments regarding procedures and reporting deadlines involving work injuries. Explain to injured workers' their benefits and legal rights under Workers' Compensation Laws. Prepare subrogation and litigation cases and correspond with doctors and attorneys on litigated cases; attend Workers' Compensation Appeal Board Hearings and authorize settlements under $50,000 as delegated by the Risk Manager; may serve as a witness at appeal hearings; arrange special investigations and medical examinations. Prepare briefs of Personnel and Health Department information to Workers' Compensation attorneys for submittal to the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board; secure documentary evidence of births, deaths, marriages and divorces in fatality cases. Serve as custodian of records; produce records and attest to validity under the direction of the court by subpoena. Requirements Three (3) years of experience adjusting workers' compensation claims, including one (1) year adjusting complex litigated claims, such as continuous trauma, AOE/COE, stress claims, and safety claims.Substitution:
Successful completion of college coursework in finance, accounting, medical or paralegal studies may be substituted for experience at a rate of 12 semester (18 quarter) units for six months of experience up to a maximum of 12 months. Education may not substitute for the one year of complex, litigated claims adjusting experience.Job Types:
