PLANT OPERATOR I
functions include but are not limited to the following:
Equipment Maintenance and Repair:
Conduct skilled maintenance and repair of water and wastewater equipment, including pumps, motors, valves, electrical control panels, and chemical feed equipment. Collaborate with others in the installation, modification, preventive maintenance, and repair of wastewater equipment and facilities.
Safety and Compliance:
Perform daily field analysis and ground water inspections. Ensure adherence to safety standards and pass pre-employment drug screens, physicals, and background investigations.
Water System Operations:
Keep water system plans up to date. Operate and maintain well pumps and hydropneumatics pressure tanks. Collect and transport water samples.
Wastewater Treatment:
Grease and clean wastewater treatment plant equipment. Read meters and gauges, regulate plant operations. Monitor, repair, and maintain water system lift stations; remove debris.
Laboratory and Belt Press Operations:
Ensure wastewater laboratory operations meet federal and state standards. Operate and maintain wastewater belt filter presses to produce cake from liquid residuals.
Service Requests and Documentation:
Respond to service requests and perform maintenance at wastewater and groundwater plants. Document treatment processes and maintenance activities, including daily flow, electrical and chemical usage, and dosage.
Technical Proficiency and Quality Assurance:
Follow manual and operating instructions for equipment. Demonstrate basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the internet. Check oil for pumps daily, verify SCADA data, and maintain accurate records. Contribute to the team effort by performing other related duties as assigned. Education and Experience An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
Education :
High School Diploma or GED Supervisory:
No previous supervisory experience is required.
Plant Operator I Qualifications:
1 year related experience, Class D wastewater license, Class D water license (within 18 months of hire)
Plant Operator II Qualifications:
2 years related experience, Class C wastewater license, Class D water license (within 18 months of hire)
