Job Purpose:
The South Carolina Department of Education is seeking a Data and AI Solutions Developer to leverage cutting-edge technology that foster innovation and enhance operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will be eager to grow their skills in a fast-paced, tech-forward environment, working with the newest languages and platforms in developing cloud-based data and AI solutions that support the Agency's strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Design and implement solutions that automate the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from various sources into cloud data platforms, enabling real-time data reporting, dashboards, analysis insights, and key metrics. Research and develop expertise in the latest developments in Application Programming Interface (API) technology, cloud data platforms, and integration strategies, applying them to improve system architecture and performance. Design, develop, and maintain robust API integrations that optimize the movement of data between internal and external applications and cloud data platforms, automating workflows and streamlining operations. Integrate enterprise applications with cloud data platforms (including Azure and AWS), ensuring efficient data retrieval, storage, and access to support organizational needs, while considering factors such as data storage, processing, security, and accessibility. Leverage Azure OpenAI to integrate AI-driven features into applications where appropriate, enhancing their functionality through intelligent data processing and analysis. Collaborate with divisions, and cross-functional teams, fostering strategic partnerships in carrying out Agency-wide analysis and development services that align with organizational goals and requirements. These positions are located in the Office of Research and Data Analysis. Minimum and Additional Requirements A high school diploma and work experience in the modification and maintenance of system programs, the design and development of system software, or the testing and debugging of system software. An associate's degree or a bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required work experience. Preferred Qualifications A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or related field (such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Technology, Data Science, etc.) or commensurate training and/or experience in data analysis, programming, or IT-related fields. Experience with analysis tools and techniques, data analysis, data architecture, software design and development, or computing environments (Azure, AWS, etc.) Commitment to continually building on existing knowledge and skills, including comprehensive training on Azure OpenAI and other software and analysis innovations that support the Agency's mission. Desire to innovate and create cutting edge solutions which make a significant impact in an empowering work environment. Willingness to work well with people to convey knowledge and concepts, including team members, executives, and partners. Familiarity with statistical languages (R, Python, SAS, etc.), data query languages (SQL, NoSQL, etc.), data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.), or other programming languages (HTML, Java, C++, Django, Node.js, etc.). Experience with Machine Learning (PyTorch, TensorFlow, FastAPI, etc.) or Natural Language Processing (Hugging Face, etc.) libraries preferred.
