Position:
Flex, Full-Time Medical Assistant with our main Hillman Cancer Center in Shadyside, PA, 3rd Floor
Schedule:
 Monday through Friday, daylight hours - no evenings, weekends, or holidays! Start time rotates between 7 am and 8 am This position will work between 56 to 80 hours per pay period (2 weeks) within Monday-Friday daylight hours and receive full-time benefits In this role, you will assist physicians with patient care by focusing on clinic operations, rooming patients, triaging, taking vital signs, and performing comfort rounds. Your responsibilities will include clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks, registering patients, scheduling tests, exams, and treatments, maintaining stocked supplies, and ensuring clean exam rooms. Responsibilities:
Check schedules and organize patient flow. Accompany patients to the exam/procedure room. Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exams, etc. Collect patient information/history; take vitals, perform screenings per provider guidelines. Relay instructions to patients/families. Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with Health Insurance. Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other state and federal regulations. Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol. Clean exam/procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control. Clean according to the scheduled maintenance program and keep appropriate records. Manage inventory of supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms. Comply with the requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e.
OSHA, CLIA, PA
Department of Health). Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data. Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures. Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs. Perform clinic procedures according to policy and procedure. Assist physicians with procedures. Document patient information in the medical record. Answering calls and providing pertinent information including patient education as directed. Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc. Complete forms/requisitions as needed. Schedule appointments. Verify insurance coverage and patient demographics. Prepare and manage charts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately. Other front office responsibilities, as required. Under the direction and supervision of a physician, administer injectable medication and vaccines when appropriate.

Medical Assistant:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities. Patient care experience is preferred. Previous experience as a Medical Assistant is preferred. Salaries range from $18.40 - $20.91 - $28.59 hourly
Medical Assistant, Senior:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Successful completion of Medical Assistant Program or equivalent hospital program (LPN/RN/EMT) OR successful completion of certification examination (AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, or NHA) OR at least 1 year of patient care experience required. Must be responsible and demonstrate proficiency in three practice category specific tasks. Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities. Salaries range from $18.60 - $21.54 - $28.71 hourly
Medical Assistant, Expert:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Successful completion of Medical Assistant program, or equivalent hospital program OR Successful completion and maintenance of certification examination and 1 year of patient care experience, OR Two years of direct patient care experience required. Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities. Performance evaluation at Solid/Strong/Good rating or higher. Salaries range from $18.80 - $22.57 - $28.86 hourly
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
