Westside Pediatrics, P.C., a well-established pediatric healthcare practice on the UpperWestside is seeking a Lead Pediatric Medical Assistant to join our team. This leadership role combines clinical and administrative responsibilities to ensure that the practice runs efficiently while providing excellent care to our pediatric patients. As a Lead Pediatric Medical Assistant, you will supervise and guide a team of medical assistants while working closely with our RN Coordinator and Pediatricians to deliver exceptional healthcare to children.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Supervision & Leadership :
Lead, supervise, and manage a team of pediatric medical assistants, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and according to practice standards. Conduct training and offer guidance to new and existing team members. Schedule team shifts, manage performance evaluations, and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
Clinical Assistance :
Assist pediatricians during patient exams, procedures, and treatments. Take patient histories, record vital signs, and perform routine physical assessments. Prepare vaccinations and assist inventory management. Ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of medical equipment.
Patient Care & Communication :
Provide a welcoming and compassionate environment for pediatric patients and their families. Explain procedures and care instructions to both children and their parents, addressing any concerns. Schedule appointments, follow-up visits, and coordinate care with families.
Administrative Duties :
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using PCC EHR. Coordinate billing and insurance verification processes to ensure smooth operations for lab send out and pre-auth for Rx requests or other ancillary referrals. Handle phone inquiries and respond to patient emails professionally and promptly.
Quality Control & Compliance :
Ensure compliance with health regulations, including infection control protocols and patient privacy standards. Monitor the accuracy of patient data and assist in audits as required.
Qualifications:
Experience :
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Pediatric Medical Assistant or in a similar clinical role, with at least 1 year of supervisory experience.
Education :
Completion of a Medical Assistant program (Certified or Registered preferred).
Certifications :
Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is preferred. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is a plus.
Skills :
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and office software. Ability to work well under pressure and maintain a calm and compassionate demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
Other :
Must be detail-oriented, with excellent problem-solving abilities. Ability to build strong relationships with patients, families, and staff.
