Must Haves:

Active CPC certification Minimum of 2 years of general surgery coding experience in a professional fee setting Proficient in Colorectal Surgery Coding Familiar with working in multiple EMR Systems and Excel Experience in a production environment and maintaining a 95% quality accuracy score Ability to work remotely and independently Strong attention to detail

Plusses :

EPIC or Athena-1 EMR Experience Multi-specialty surgery coding experience

Day-to-day:

Start day in PMD (surgeon charge rounding tool) Code through charts on Excel and EMR Systems Communicate back and forth with physicians to provide feedback (doing a lot of this), code cases, and review submitted charges Surgeons sign off on everything Billing practices for bundling Once they charge and hit the billing systems, they will review and move all edits so claims can drop Looking at outstanding holds and charges (missing slips) and update reports accordingly Updating reports Track using production sheet Weekly huddle with supervisor, bi-weekly huddle with entire team Reports to supervisor who will report to coding manager

Systems:

IDX (provider billing), Athena1, IomedG2 (McKesson proprietary system), PMD (rounding tool) Productivity metrics Our coders are expected to code 5-7 cases an hour. Volumes - they need to meet 95% productivity measures
