Job Title:
Operations Technician Job Description Working at an anaerobic digestion facility in St. Bernard, Ohio, the Operations Technician will provide day-to-day monitoring and basic plant operations, as well as routine lab tests and maintenance activities. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 7 AM to 4 PM, with some Saturdays from 8 AM to 12 PM. Responsibilities Operate equipment manually and through instrumentation panels, computer terminals, and programmable logic control units following process control procedures. Monitor and observe operating conditions, record observations and data in shift log. Diagnose basic operational problems and take corrective action per procedure. Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, adjustment, inspection, and minor repair on machines and related equipment. Collect water, wastewater, industrial waste, groundwater, sludge, residuals, and gas samples according to schedule. Perform field tests to pace chemical dosages for process and odor control units. Prepare chemical solutions, monitor supplies, and recommend reorder. Perform routine lab tests and prepare reports per procedure. Perform routine instrument calibration for portable meters. Learn to inspect and become proficient at mechanical troubleshooting. Perform manual labor including cleaning equipment, facilities, and grounds. Operate vehicles, mobile equipment, and material handling equipment for operational and maintenance purposes. Perform facility maintenance and repair including replacing or installing light bulbs, windows, doors, partitions, and more. Learn to estimate time and material costs for various projects. Essential Skills High school diploma or GED with the ability to read, write, and comprehend English. Six months to two years of experience in a related position with a similar environment. Experience using material handling equipment, pressure gauges, and precision measuring instruments. Experience using power, pneumatic, hydraulic, and hand tools, as well as shop tools such as drill press, band saw, and torque wrench. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Vocational training and mechanical aptitude preferred. Ability to read, interpret, and record data from meters, gauges, scales, panels, computer consoles, and other equipment. Basic computer skills and the ability to operate programs for process control and maintenance management. Ability to diagnose basic and routine process and mechanical problems and take corrective action. Ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional responsibilities. Must be able to serve rotational 24-hour emergency on-call if required. Additional Skills & Qualifications Minimum water/wastewater license as required by regulatory agency. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.50 - $32.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
