We're looking for a skilled and reliable Pump Station Technician to join our team! In this role, you'll be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of pump stations that are essential to water and wastewater systems. You'll work with mechanical and electrical equipment, perform routine inspections, troubleshoot issues, and keep systems running safely and efficiently. If you have strong technical skills, enjoy problem-solving, and take pride in keeping things running smoothly, we'd like to hear from you! Minimum Requirements High school diploma or GED. Courses/training equivalent to one (1) year of college or vocational training to include basic electricity and other related courses. Thorough knowledge of the national and local electrical codes supplemented by extensive experience in the repair of complicated motor control panels and switches. Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton's criteria. This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City's current substance abuse policy Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion. Additional Requirements May require working beyond a standard 40-hour work week to include evenings and weekends. Required to be on an on-call rotation schedule. Must be able to work in a confined space.
