Full Job Description Job Summary:
This position will work throughout the Agricultural Research station doing maintenance and repair of various equipment. This position will work both in the Maintenance Shop as well as outside in repair situations and within buildings servicing fixed equipment. This position will also assist as needed during busy periods with field operations which include tillage, manure hauling, and harvesting of grains and forage crops. This position requires and will develop knowledge of agricultural equipment, vehicles and small engines to perform general preventative maintenance and diagnose, test, and repair problems. Skills include welding and fabrication. Accurate record keeping is required for recording maintenance logs, maintaining parts inventory, and billing purposes as well as meeting research needs. This position shall observe safety precautions and procedures applicable to maintenance shops and mechanical equipment as well as safe operation of farm equipment and vehicles.Responsibilities:
Performs diagnosis, maintenance and repairs to automotive vehicles, small engines, large/agricultural vehicles and related equipment to ensure effective functioning of institutional vehicles and equipment. 30% Inspects, maintains, and repairs complex parts and systems for small, automotive, and large-engine vehicles and equipment under general supervision to ensure optimal and safe operation 25% Identifies and troubleshoots complex vehicle and small-engine issues and collaborates with work unit staff to resolve issues 10% Documents completed maintenance and repairs according to established policies and procedures 15% Serves as a point of contact for individuals providing information and updates about vehicle and small-engine maintenance and repairs 20% Operates, cleans, and repairs basic agricultural machines and equipment to ensure safety and operable functionality and to adhere to established rules, policies, and regulations. Preferred H.S.Diploma Qualifications:
Required:
Minimum one year experience maintaining and repairing vehicles or equipment. Experience with fixed equipment/machinery, agricultural equipment, small engines, and/or vehiclesPreferred:
Experience performing field operations including tillage, manure hauling, or harvesting. Experience with welding or fabrication.Work Schedule:
Normal hours are 7:30am- 4:00pm, Monday through Friday.
