Job Description

Chemical Operator VanDeMark Chemical, Inc. Lockport, NY 14094 As a Chemical Operator at VanDeMark, you'll be at the heart of our manufacturing operations, working hands-on with a variety of chemical processes and equipment. From reactors to distillation columns, centrifuges to pumps, you'll ensure our operations run smoothly and safely, maintaining the high standards we're known for.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Monitoring:
Keep a close eye on assigned process areas, ensuring everything is under control—even during unexpected situations. Your troubleshooting skills will be essential in resolving any issues.
Plant Cleanliness:
Uphold our cleanliness standards in your assigned areas to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
Operational Knowledge:
Learn and retain knowledge across various process areas, adapting quickly to the unique challenges of each.
Collaboration:
Work closely with all plant departments, fostering strong relationships and ensuring seamless operations.
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and detailed production records as required.
Permit Management:
Handle various permits, including hot work, line breaks, and entry permits.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure adherence to all safety, environmental, and health regulations, as well as proper storage and shipment of products.
Key Attributes:
Strong awareness of safety, environmental, and quality standards. Ability to quickly learn and multitask across different job functions. Excellent troubleshooting skills and a knack for making sound decisions under pressure. Mechanical aptitude and hands-on abilities. Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members. Requirements High School diploma or equivalent. Basic proficiency in English and Math. Familiarity with chemical process equipment like reactors, instrumentation, centrifuges, filters, and pumps is a plus. Physical ability to meet the demands of the job, including frequent stair climbing, manual valve operation, handling waste drums, and operating equipment like forklifts and drum tippers. Willingness to work 12-hour shifts, including overtime and call-ins.
