$43,724 to $61,213 Annually
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Provide helpdesk support, configuration and troubleshooting of end user computer systems, various software applications and activities of the Information Technology Division within the Compliance Department; to assess and respond to the needs of users; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to area of assignment. Receives direction from the Information Technology Administrator, Information Technology Manager, or the Compliance Director.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Modify system setup to meet changing user needs, update and change end user settings. Monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; make recommendations. Assist in maintaining an IT trouble ticket system. Respond to user inquiries in a courteous and understandable manner; provide training as directed. Stay abreast of new technology and innovations.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Desktop operating systems, computer desktop hardware (devices). Office Suite Software and Hardware, including peripherals such as printers, scanners and VoIP Phones, etc. Principles and functions of computer equipment. Troubleshoot desktop computer system hardware, software and other office equipment. Provide a wide variety of assistance and support. Identify and analyze problems; propose solutions. Learn and train users on various software, printer use. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Interpret and explain City policies and procedures. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of: effective interaction and communication with others interpreting and analyzing problems Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following: walking, standing, kneeling, or sitting for extended periods of time operating assigned equipment Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for: making observations communicating with others reading and writing operating assigned equipment; vehicles
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: One year of increasingly responsibility in computer desktop helpdesk support. Equivalent to a high school diploma supplemented by college level course work.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting for prolonged periods of time, walking, standing, bending, twisting, climbing, stooping, crouching, squatting, pulling and lifting (up to 50 lbs.), use of fingers; operating motor vehicle to provide user services to remote sites and locations.
Working Environment:
Active and open office environment utilizing a computer and associated software, hardware, printers, VoIP telephone system and general office equipment; outdoor wireless environment; work closely with others.
