PMS397 oversees the design, construction, and delivery of the
COLUMBIA
Class Ballistic Missile Submarine (SSBN).
PMS397T1
is the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) ship integration technical authority for system design and systems engineering for the
COLUMBIA
Class submarines. You will provide direct support to the Navy's future undersea warfare programs and systems. The Technical Correspondence Coordinator (TCC) advises and provides direct support to the PMS397 Project Officer and coordinates information exchange among various PMS397 branches and other internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Assist Systems Engineers in the drafting and coordination of technical correspondence with respect to Hull, Mechanical, & Electrical (HM&E) fluid systems Review incoming correspondence from the design yard and other stakeholder organizations Assist the systems engineers in developing and tracking comment resolutions using program management databases and tools Assist in maintaining the program's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Research requirements, conduct analyses, generate reports, and provide general program management support and programmatic administrative support and coordination Develop presentations and briefing material if necessary Coordinate and/or participate in meetings and teleconferences with multiple stakeholders concerning technical issues, requested/recommended changes, and status Support in managing the disposition of pertinent program documentation (i.e. SOPs) Interface with various government and contractor representatives as needed to ensure the overall goals and objectives of the program are met
Education and Experience:
Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, punctuation and the Navy correspondence manual to prepare and edit written material. Ability to use a variety of software products (e.g. MS Office, MS Outlook, Adobe Acrobat) and information systems (e.g. LiveLink/CDMS, CITIS). Ability to understand and succinctly summarize, communicate, and document technical issues. Bachelor's degree (or commensurate experience) Five (5) years of professional work experience dealing with technical writing, documentation of program specifications, or other uniquely applicable experience. DoD Secret security clearance.
Desired Education and Experience:
Two (2) years of experience with Navy shipboard HM&E systems and acquisition programs. Navy submarine, ship and/or Yeoman experience.
Work Location:
Washington Navy Yard with telework options possible (1-2 days per week).
Travel:
Less than 5 percent.
