The position services as a subject matter expert to providers and staff for questions and updates related to coding.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Reviews E/M, procedure codes and diagnosis codes for accuracy. Reviews and analyzes the content of the EMR to determine when documentation should be utilized for appropriate assignment of ICD diagnosis codes, CPT, procedure codes, modifies, hierarchical condition categories, complications, and comorbidities to meet coding guidelines. Verify insurance eligibility and update electronic medical record registration as appropriate. Communicates electronically with the provider and or operations for documentation or clarification to support codes. Understands how diagnosis and procedure codes, and reimbursement methodologies are utilized for reimbursement. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of coding guidelines, medical terminology, and anatomy/physiology, and payer specific coding guidelines. Audits and analyzes software system and charts to identify trends and issues. Communicates these findings and concerns to the manager.

High School Diploma/GED
  • Required 1 Year Coding Experience
  • Required CPC, CCA, or CCS
