BENEFITS QUESTIONS Description of Work •This role is eligible to be Hybrid and has onsite reporting located within Raleigh, NC •The Accounting Technician ensures accurate and timely reimbursement of Federal and State shares of administrative costs to the 100 county Departments of Social Services (DSS) and the 8 county-operated Child Support Enforcement Units. This involves analyzing monthly and year-to-date reimbursement reports, identifying issues, and making necessary adjustments to maintain accurate financial reporting. The position also handles various accounting functions, including journal entries, correcting errors, auditing expenditures, and ensuring compliance with fiscal policies and regulations. Additionally, the role provides technical assistance and guidance to county fiscal and program staff to resolve financial issues and maintain adherence to accounting standards. The position plays an important role in tracking Federal, State, and County funds. Through the use of complex spreadsheets and financial tracking systems, the Accounting Technician ensures proper fund distribution, accurate reporting, and effective reconciliation of disbursing accounts. The role also involves providing clear communication and assistance to both internal and external stakeholders.Key Duties Include:
Ensure accurate and timely processing of monthly reimbursements for Federal and State administrative costs to county Departments of Social Services (DSS) and Child Support Enforcement Units. Review monthly and year-to-date reimbursement reports to identify and resolve common reporting issues across counties. Maintain and reconcile financial records using the Departmental Accounting System (DAS) and the County Administration Reimbursement System (CARS). Monitor expenditures and fund distributions to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and County funding requirements. Utilize complex spreadsheets to track funds and monitor expenditures by program and category. Provide assistance to county fiscal staff on accounting procedures and reporting requirements. Support the implementation of new income maintenance and service programs, developing fiscal training materials as needed.
