SYSTEM ADMIN III - 1 YEAR CONTRACT. HYBRID.
Onsite twice a month, plus onsite for some meetings, computer issues...) Join this great team as a contractor providing senior level technical expertise in supporting their IT equipment and systems. Interaction with customers and other information technology professionals to analyze and resolve problems related to the use of their IT systems. Will serve as a technical reference, mentor, and resource to other technical staff members. Will plan, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard information stored on their IT systems against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction or disclosure. Job Summary 1.
Technical Knowledge:
  • Exhibits advanced understanding and knowledge of the technologies identified for this position.
  • Serves as a technical resource and mentor for other analysts and lower-level specialists.
  • Works cooperatively with developers, security personnel and other technical or business users to evaluate, design, implement and maintain complex technical systems for enterprise-level, internet-facing web applications.
  • Demonstrates a solid foundation in administering and securing systems in a regulated environment.

Technical Support:
  • Serves as second or third tier support to help resolve issues beyond the skill level of less knowledgeable staff members.
  • Performs in-depth analysis of the root cause of widespread, complex or recurring system issues and develops processes and procedures designed to reduce or eliminate the issue in the future.
  • Communicates and documents solutions to reduce time and effort spent in resolving similar problems in the future.

Technical Solution Development:
  • Develops scripts and playbooks designed to increase efficiencies and reduce human error.
  • Analyzes usage and systems load to makes recommendations for enhancements or changes that will improve system performance or enhance system stability.
  • Demonstrates the ability to correlate technical products and services with business services and organizational structure, making recommendations to streamline operational efficiency.

Planning and Organizing:
  • Regularly assists management in establishing work standards, standard processes and references.
  • Creates well-written documentation, technical diagrams and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to apply technical judgment to plan and organize tasks to achieve desired outcomes, within budget and assigned deadlines.
Manage departmental projects of medium to high complexity. Develop project plan, manage milestones and drive project forward. Projects often involve significant changes to the infrastructure or the implementation of emerging technologies. Required skills (Full list will be presented at time of interview) Red Hat Enterprise Linux Administration and maintenance of bare metal hypervisors such as VMware and Red Hat OpenShift Open-source software technologies such as Apache Tomcat, ActiveMQ, and microservices Microsoft Azure cloud platform Strong scripting skills in bash, PowerShell and/or Python Administration, configuration management, infrastructure as code and automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform CI/CD pipeline management tools such as BitBucket, Azure DevOps, GitLab, git and Jenkins Cisco UCS Hybrid on-premise/cloud environment management skills Understanding of agile/scrum methodologies Understanding of the TCP stack and a fundamental understanding of networking concepts Understanding of security requirements imposed by compliance requirements in regulated industries such as RBAC, least privilege, patching and vulnerability management, backup and recovery and other requirements.
