Job Description

Telecom Technician/Splicer Foremost Telecommunications Corporation Pleasanton, TX We are currently seeking able-bodied, reliable, skilled, highly motivated, and trustworthy individuals for full time Technician or Senior Technician. This position could potentially be home based. Technician Essential Duties and Responsibilities include: Fiber Splicing and testing Preparing for installations by reviewing installation orders, gathering equipment, supplies and tools and coordinating schedules with customers. Planning installations by evaluating location, locating access and laying-out equipment and wiring plan. Maintaining accurate records through documenting installations, services and repairs. Installation of racks, ladder, etc… Maintaining and improving service and support with customers, listening to their descriptions of problems, answering questions, resolving issues, diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, replacing and/or upgrading components. Referring to schematics, manuals and manufacturer's instructions as needed. Maintaining a safe work environment by following safe practices and adhering to safety policies. Ensuring adequate supply levels by inventorying stock, placing and verifying orders. Updating and improving job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications. Enhancing the organization's reputation through personal accountability for accomplishing new and different requests and always striving to add value. Other duties as assigned. Senior Technician Additional Essential Duties and Responsibilities include: Planning and coordinating installations by evaluating location, locating access and laying-out equipment and wiring plan. Supervising and directing other technicians in the performance of their duties. Supervising training of other technicians in order to improve their knowledge and skill base. Technician Qualifications• 1 year experience in telecommunications, construction, or related field preferred Must possess a valid driver's license High School Diploma or equivalent work experience Electrician skills and certification preferred Proficient in DC power installation Must have working knowledge of best cabling practices, to include DS-1/DS-3/Cat5/Cat6/Cat3/amphenol cable termination, wire management Strong installation skills Strong fiber optics skills (OTDR, WDM, Splicing, etc..) Working knowledge of Cisco and Adtran equipment, to include basic configuration preferred Proficiency in the use of standard tools and equipment in the telecom tool kit. Strong structure skills Exposure to electrical Must be able to speak clearly, concisely, and to communicate effectively in a courteous and professional manner Solid written communication skills required Support Emergency Operations Must be able to work full time, up to and including six days a week; which may include nights, weekends, and holidays, as required Strong computer skills (highly desirable) Working knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred Industry certifications preferred Working knowledge of handheld electronics, including smart phones, tablets, etc., preferred. Must meet company hiring criteria for pre-employment screening, including drug test, criminal background check, fitness for duty, and MVR check Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds and climb ladders up to 20 feet in length Must be able to work in tight spaces, including attics and crawl spaces Must be able to work outside in extreme weather conditions, including precipitation and temperature variations Must be able to stand for extended periods of time •Senior Technician Additional Qualifications Must possess leadership and management skills 3 years experience in telecommunications, electrical, construction, or related field required
