Medical Assistant

Primary Patient Population:
  • Outpatient Setting (Multiple Locations)
  • Different clinics will offer an opportunity to experience specific patient populations Primary skills utilized/learned:
  • Scheduling patients, obtaining pre-authorizations, registering patients, gathering/analyzing payor data
  • Performing basic medical screenings
  • Vital signs, specimen collection, bladder scan, EKGs, etc.
  • Medication & Vaccination administration
  • Wound care (suture/staple removal)
  • Assist providers with sterile and non-sterile procedures
  • Splinting and bandaging Personnel Medical Assistant will work with :

Required Qualifications:
  • HS Diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam.
  • Meets one of the following: Completion of a Medical Assistant program and has work experience in a Medical Assisting or acute patient care capacity, which includes school-sponsored externships. Completion of a Medical Assisting-comparable military educational program for medics/hospital corpsman with an honorable discharge (if applicable).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for the American Heart Association (AHA) or obtains within 90 days of hire.
  • Knowledge of basic medical procedures and medical terminology.
  • Possesses critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment and exercise sound judgment, as well as organizational, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment with multiple providers.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates flexibility, initiative, and a strong work ethic.
  • Successfully passes the Medical Assistant pre-employment screening written test with a score of 80% or better and the pre-employment screening skills test with a 75% or better score.
  • All qualified applicants must pass the PSR pre-employment screening test with a score of 75% or better and the post-employment test with a score of 80% or better.
  • Access to reliable transportation to travel to different sites within the Ambulatory Care Enterprise.
  • Able to work in assigned area(s) and any other clinic based on operational needs.
