OVERVIEW
We are a dynamic and growing property management company seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our team in commercial property management. This entry-level position will primarily support our Accounts Payable Clerk with day-to-day tasks, as well as provide general accounting support as needed. This role offers an excellent opportunity for growth within the organization, with training and development in various areas of accounting
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Accounts Payable Clerk with invoice processing, payment entries, and vendor inquiries Assist with processing 1099 forms and ensure compliance with all applicable guidelines and deadlines Support Accounts Receivable by performing bank deposit runs, recording deposits in accounting software, and managing accounts receivable documentation Maintain utility meter readings and prepare supporting documentation for tenant invoicing Assist with preparing annual Common Area Maintenance (CAM) budgets and reconciliations Prepare, file, and maintain accounting documents, including invoices, statements, and reports Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies under the guidance of senior accounting staff Help with general ledger maintenance and prepare monthly account reconciliations Perform other duties as assigned by the accounting team to support department goals
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in Accounting or Finance is a plus
Experience:
Prior experience in an accounting or administrative role is helpful but not required
Skills:
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel Familiarity with property management accounting software (experience with accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger entries preferred) Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
