Journeyman - $30 to $50/hr depending on experience Apprentice - $18 to $30/hr depending on experience About the Apprentice Pipe Fitter Job This is a full-time, on-site role for a pipe fitter apprentice. You will be based at a semiconductor facility in the Albuquerque, New Mexico metropolitan area. As an Apprentice Pipe Fitter, you will work alongside experienced Pipe Fitters in the installation and management of pipe systems at an industrial construction site. You will inspect work areas to determine appropriate and safe installation of pipes, then follow through with planning and installation of pipe systems. There are four job levels offered, depending on how much experience you have, and whether you have an applicable state journeyman license. What You Will Do Assisting in pipe installation: support experienced pipefitters in assembling, installing, and repairing process piping systems in industrial settings Learning to read blueprints: assist in interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to understand system layouts and installation requirements Material handling: transport, sort, and prepare piping materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, and PVC for installation Cutting and preparation: learn how to measure, cut, and thread pipes using hand and power tools under supervision Support in welding and fabrication: assist with basic welding and pipe fabrication tasks while adhering to safety guidelines Testing and inspection: participate in pressure testing (hydrostatic and pneumatic) to verify system integrity and identify potential issues Safety compliance: follow all workplace safety regulations and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and hazard awareness Tool usage and maintenance: learn to operate and maintain tools and equipment such as pipe wrenches, cutters, and threading machines Tool and equipment use: operate hand and power tools, such as pipe threaders, cutters, and benders, safely and effectively Pipe fitting support: help with installing valves, fittings, and supports under the guidance of senior fitters Worksite preparation: assist in setting up and maintaining a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and materials are readily available Collaboration and communication: work closely with experienced pipefitters, welders, and other trades to complete tasks efficiently On-the-job training: continuously learn and develop skills through hands-on experience and mentorship from senior personnel Documentation assistance: help maintain records of materials used, tasks completed, and project progress for reporting purposes Inventory management: maintain tools, equipment, and inventory required for the job Environmental awareness: follow procedures for hazardous material handling and ensure environmental compliance in process piping operations

What You Will Do Pipe installation: install, assemble, and repair piping systems for industrial processes, ensuring alignment with design specifications and industry standards Material handling: work with various piping materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel, PVC, and other specialty alloys based on process requirements Blueprint interpretation: read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine the correct placement and routing of piping systems Welding and fabrication: perform welding, cutting, and fabrication of piping components using TIG, MIG, and stick welding methods when required System testing: conduct hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure tests to ensure system integrity and detect leaks Fitting selection: identify and select appropriate valves, fittings, flanges, and gaskets for the required application Pipe support installation: secure piping using appropriate supports, brackets, and hangers to prevent stress and ensure structural stability Compliance and safety: ensure all installations comply with industry regulations such as ASME, ANSI, OSHA, and company safety standards Troubleshooting and maintenance: inspect, diagnose, and resolve piping system issues, including leaks, corrosion, and flow disruptions
Collaboration:
work closely with engineers, project managers, and other trades to coordinate installation and maintenance activities
Documentation:
maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and system modifications for future reference Tool and equipment
