Job Description

Heavy Equipment Operator 3.5 3.5 out of 5 stars Inland Empire, CA The Heavy Equipment Operator will successfully operate backhoes, excavators, wheel loaders and other pipeline machines and processes. This person's motivated and looking to help grow the plumbing division while maintaining quality and consistency of work and service delivery in accordance with company standards providing customers with an exceptional experience. Must be willing to work in Inland Empire, Los Angeles and/or San Diego areas. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Provide maintenance and repairs on company owned fleet (over 100 pieces of equipment)
  • Drive to various jobsite locations throughout Southern California
  • Perform electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs as well as preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Record keeping and reporting to the Equipment Manager
  • Experience working with New Holland Backhoes
  • Kobelco excavators (mini up to 100K)
  • Cat wheel loaders
  • New Holland skid steers
  • Water trucks-semi trucks and trailers
  • Small engines and portables
Technical Skills:
  • Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance including tire pressure, checking oil and water valves.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines
  • Knowledge of electrical systems
  • Welding (preferred)
  • Ability to run diagnostic tests.

          Hands-on with ability to shift back and forth from self-reliance and personal accountability to cross-group collaboration while making others successful along the way. Adaptable and willing to adjust style to audience, learn and grow with the company.
          Qualifications:
          • 2 to 5 years of experience as a diesel/Heavy Equipment Mechanic
          • Must have a HS Diploma or equivalent.
          • Must have valid driver's license with clean driving record (Class B preferred)
          • Formal training as a Heavy Equipment/diesel mechanic (trade school or military) (preferred).
          • Experience with diesel heavy equipment repair.
          • Ability to run diagnostic tests.
          • Welding experience (a plus)
          • Manuel dexterity
          • OSHA 30 (90 days after start date)
          Physical Requirements:
          • Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools.
          • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions.
          • Ability to repair heavy equipment in all weather conditions and elements including extreme heat and cold, dirt, dust, fumes and/or loud noises.
          • Ability to lift to 50 pounds.
          • Must successfully complete an employment background check including a drug screening.
