Position:
The Bear Lake County Sheriff's Office is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Patrol Deputy. This critical front-line role focuses on responding to emergencies, investigating crimes, conducting proactive patrols, and providing public safety services throughout Bear Lake County. No prior law enforcement experience is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Respond to and investigate reports of criminal activity, traffic incidents, and emergencies. Conduct proactive patrols to deter crime and ensure public safety throughout Bear Lake County. Enforce local, state, and federal laws. Prepare detailed and accurate reports and maintain proper chain-of-custody for evidence. Interact professionally with community members, victims, witnesses, and suspects. Provide assistance to other law enforcement agencies as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be able to meet Idaho POST Patrol Officer certification requirements within one year of hire. Must be at least 21 years old at the time of hire. High school diploma or equivalent required. Possess or be able to obtain a valid Idaho driver's license. No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history. Good moral character, strong decision-making abilities, and ability to work under stress.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in law enforcement, security, or military service is a plus but not required. Completion of Idaho POST Patrol Officer Academy certification (preferred but not required at hire).
Work Environment:
Full-time position based in Paris, Idaho (Bear Lake County). Shift work including nights, weekends, and holidays. Field-based work involving exposure to all weather conditions, critical incidents, and physical activity.
