To provide expertise and support to District administration, teachers, other District personnel, families and community members related to federal, state and local requirements for nondiscrimination promoting equal opportunity and fair treatment. Maintain, disseminate and advocate current knowledge and understanding of relevant developments, trends, policies and issues within matters related to equitable education access and best practices in K-12 education.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Incumbent must achieve the following outcomes with or without reasonable accommodation: Participates in the development, implementation and administration of departmental programs, services, initiatives and materials to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local requirements for nondiscrimination promoting equal opportunity and fair treatment. Coordinates the collection, compilation and analysis of data; assists with writing, editing and presentation of evaluations, reports and/or summaries to District leadership, schools, family-led groups, community constituents/groups, professional associations and other populations as appropriate. Serves as the department's primary point of contact to designated APS zones and/or schools - provides technical/professional guidance, consultation, support and advocacy for zone/school leadership, staff, families and community constituents in matters related to equitable education access and best practices in equity initiatives, including family engagement. Serves as the department liaison to various internal and external departments and constituencies in equity and family engagement related matters as appropriate. Establishes and/or maintains outreach, partnerships and collaboration to: (1) enhance existing programs and services, or (2) identify gaps and needs to create and implement new programs and services. Develops and/or coordinates training and other instructional/educational programming, aligning methodology, design and materials to the specified needs of students, staff, families and community constituents. Evaluates effectiveness of training and other instructional/educational programming, and utilizes evaluation data to revise and/or recommend changes in instructional objectives and methods. Presents, facilitates and/or supports workshops, seminars, classes and other training methods of instruction in areas related to education equity, access and/or family engagement. May lead, guide and train staff/student employees, interns and/or volunteers performing related work.DUTIES :
In addition to the essential functions of this job, the incumbent must perform the following duties: Complies with state-approved Code of Ethics of the Education Profession and upholds and enforces rules, administrative directives and regulations, school board policies, and local, state and federal regulations. Articulates and facilitates the implementation of the mission and values of the Albuquerque Public Schools. Safeguards confidentiality of privileged information. Prepares and maintains accurate and complete records and reports as required by law, state directives, District policy and administrative regulations. Shares the responsibility for the supervision and care of District inventory, proper and safe use of facilities, equipment and supplies, and reports safety hazards promptly. Maintains professional relationships and works cooperatively with employees, the community and other professionals. Maintains professional competence through individual and staff training, in-service educational activities and self-selected professional growth activities. Attends and/or conducts staff meetings and participates on committees within area of responsibility. Performs other tasks related to area of responsibilities as requested or assigned by an immediate supervisor.PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE
Master's degree or advanced training in an education related field and/or 10 years of progressively related experience in student, staff and/or family supports, engagement and equity initiatives. Advanced training and/or demonstrated years of experience in one or more of the following: (1) research/evaluation; (2) training and instructional design/support; (3) facilitation and conflict resolution; (4) family engagement. Demonstrated years of experience developing collaborative partnerships and building relationships with students, staff, families and community constituents. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. Ability to make competent and informed determinations and judgements on a range of confidential and/or sensitive issues. Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, organize and coordinate multiple projects. Ability to create, compose and edit written materials. Ability to develop and deliver both oral and written presentations. Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports. Bi-lingual.REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in education or related field and three years of progressively related experience, or High School Diploma with six years of progressively related experience, in student, staff and/or family supports engagement and/or equity initiatives. Knowledge and understanding of the unique, personal, economic, social, linguistic and cultural backgrounds of Albuquerque Public Schools' staff, students, families and communities. Knowledge of/experience with family and community outreach and engagement practices. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in diverse communities.
