We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Gastroenterology Certified Coder to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical coding, specifically in the field of gastroenterology. As a Gastroenterology Certified Coder, you will be responsible for accurately assigning CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes to medical procedures, diagnoses, and services related to gastroenterology.Responsibilities:
1.Coding Accuracy:
Review and accurately assign CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes to gastroenterology-related procedures, diagnoses, and services, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and regulations. 2.Documentation Analysis:
Collaborate with healthcare providers to analyze medical records, ensuring comprehensive and detailed documentation to support code assignments. 3.Compliance:
Stay abreast of changes in coding guidelines, regulations, and compliance requirements specific to gastroenterology coding. Implement and communicate updates to ensure compliance within the team. 4.Auditing:
Conduct regular internal audits to assess coding accuracy, identify potential discrepancies, and provide feedback to enhance overall coding quality. 5.Communication:
Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to clarify documentation, resolve coding-related queries, and ensure accurate code assignment. 6.Educational Support:
Provide training and support to healthcare providers and coding staff on proper documentation practices and coding guidelines specific to gastroenterology. 7.Quality Improvement:
Collaborate with the quality improvement team to implement measures that enhance coding efficiency, accuracy, and overall revenue cycle management.Qualifications:
1.Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required. 2. In-depth knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems, with a focus on gastroenterology coding Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required. Process and prepare business or government forms. Process patient admission or discharge documents. Protect the security of medical records to ensure that confidentiality is maintained. Release information to persons or agencies according to regulations. Resolve or clarify codes or diagnoses with conflicting, missing, or unclear information by consulting with doctors or others or by participating in the coding team's regular meetings. Retrieve patient medical records for physicians, technicians, or other medical personnel. Review records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulations.
