Job Description

Accounts Receivable Specialist 3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars Charlotte, NC 28216
Summary:
The Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible for ensuring clients are properly billed, payments are received for goods and services, and customer resale certificates are managed. This is a Temp-to-perm and fully in-office role.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintain and update customer files, including W-9 forms, mailing attentions, payment terms, credit limits, and resale certificates by state. Verify and create invoices in accordance with accounting principles; ensure invoices are submitted following customer-specific instructions. Download and archive daily lockbox receipts and bank activities. Prepare, verify, and record daily incoming payments and transactions related to accounts receivable. Investigate customer discrepancies and past-due amounts in collaboration with customer service and other departments. Send AR statements to customers and provide supporting documentation upon request. Draft correspondence for past-due accounts and collections, identify delinquent accounts, and contact account holders to request payment. Review and organize accounting inbox correspondence, following up on discrepancies internally and externally. Execute credit limit controls, releasing or enforcing DN blocks based on collection status. Process customer payments via credit cards and checks. Maintain and update discrepancy and past-due statements. Assist in audit projects. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel. Minimum 2 years of experience with SAP ERP system. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in operating office equipment, including computers, calculators, and copiers. Ability to anticipate work needs and interact professionally with customers.
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting preferred. Minimum of 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, talking on the phone, and working on a computer.
