District Overview:
Dayton School District, nestled in Oregons Mid-Willamette Valley, serves approximately 1,000 students across a Grade School, Junior High, and High School. We are a rural district known for our close-knit community, strong academic focus, and collaborative partnerships with families. Position Summary:
Dayton School District is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to serve as the District Human Resource/Board Secretary. This confidential position supports the effective and efficient functioning of the district office, with primary responsibilities in human resources administration and school board operations. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent communication, administrative, and interpersonal skills who thrives in a fast-paced, professional environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Human Resources:
Serve as the primary HR contact for the district; maintain all employee records and personnel filesAdminister hiring processes, onboarding, and offboarding for licensed, classified, and administrative staffPrepare job postings, screen applications, schedule interviews, and assist with recruitment effortsTrack licensure, certifications, and training complianceManage employee leave, workers compensation, and benefits enrollment in collaboration with third-party vendorsCoordinate and process payroll input and related HR data systems with accuracy and confidentialityMaintain compliance with state and federal employment laws and district policies
Board Secretary:
Prepare, post, and distribute board meeting agendas and supporting documents in compliance with public meeting lawsRecord and transcribe accurate and timely minutes for board meetingsManage election filings and board policy updatesMaintain official records and act as custodian for board and district documentation
General Administrative:
Provide high-level administrative support to the Superintendent and district leadershipCoordinate calendars, communications, and public records requestsRespond to inquiries from staff, community members, and outside agencies in a professional and confidential mannerAssist with district-wide reports, data collection, and special projects
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (required); Associates degree or higher preferredPrior administrative, secretarial, or human resource experience, preferably in a public school or governmental settingStrong written and verbal communication skillsHigh level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and HR/payroll systemsExceptional attention to detail and ability to maintain strict confidentialityAbility to work independently, multitask, and manage competing deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Oregon school district operations, labor laws, and board governanceFamiliarity with Frontline (Applitrack), Infinite Visions, or other school HR/financial softwareBilingual (Spanish) preferred
