Collects units of blood from volunteer blood donors while monitoring collection equipment and the donor for signs of adverse reactions. Performs vital signs, point of care testing, and reviews standard questionnaire to evaluate safety of blood donor and transfusion recipient. Adheres to all standard operating procedures (SOPs) during the collection of blood components to meet quality and safety requirements. Recruits and schedules blood donors for donation appointments. Career advancement opportunities exist including Phlebotomist II and Phlebotomist III positions. extension program- Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 months of phlebotomy experience OR a graduate of a phlebotomy training program that provides a clinical rotation.
