Engineering Technician

Job Responsibilities:
Fabricates, builds, installs, troubleshoots, tests, and repairs electrical and electronic components, circuits, systems, and prototypes as per applicable government specifications. Under guidance of supervisor, acquires parts, builds, tests, troubleshoots, and calibrates equipment being designed or modified. May be assigned to the research, design, development or manufacture of a components or other phases of engineering projects, acting as liaison between engineering and production teams. Conducts various environmental tests, bench handling tests, vibration tests, and shock tests. Uses electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, frequency generators, electronic counters, phase meters, Volt ohm-milliampere meters, potentiometers, bridges, and quality meters. Works closely with electronic design engineers and engineering technicians to build prototypes and mock-ups. Performs additional duties as required to meet project or organizational needs.
Job Requirements:
High school graduate; 2 years college or equivalent in applicable trade school. Minimum 2 years in electronic technician field. Ability to follow detailed assembly instructions, processes, and procedures. Proficient with electronic test equipment. Possesses thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic circuits and is capable of assembling, troubleshooting, testing and repairing any electronic or mechanical device from blueprints and sketches. Handles tasks of various difficulty, requiring some level of evaluation, originality, and ingenuity. Ability to travel to local vendor site for testing as necessary.
