Mortgage Underwriter 3.6 3.6 out of 5 stars 1817 West End Avenue, Nashville, TN 37203 This position is remote, but candidates MUST be located in our business footprint.

TN, AL, South KY, North GA.Summary:
This position is responsible for providing a loan decision based on an individual's credit history, financial position, and strength of collateral. This person must have an extensive understanding of FHA, VA, and RD guidelines. The ability to be approachable and manage work flow is essential.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Complete, thorough analysis of loan files to determine compliance with FirstBank, investor, FHA, VA, RD, and State Housing guidelines. Respond to post-closing, insuring, and audit reviews in a timely fashion. Communicate loan decision to appropriate parties both orally and/or in writing. Review and clear conditions. Complete all required data entry into FirstBank loan tracking systems. Communicate to Loan Originator and Processor through calls or emails related to FirstBank loan products, underwriting guidelines, loan scenarios, file statuses, etc. Work outside the standard work day, if required Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Confidentiality Education and /or Experience High School diploma or GED required, an associate's degree preferred 3+ years of underwriting experience, with current working knowledge of Fannie/Freddie, FHA/VA, RD, and State Housing guidelines, documents, and terminology. Ensure each customer is acknowledged in a friendly and helpful manner. Provide prompt and accurate follow through on all customer inquiries, requests, and complaints. Offer the customer an alternative if unable to satisfy a request. Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills necessary to interact positively with both customers and staff members.Other Job Posting Details
