Job Description

Electrical Technician Hendrick Motorsports Charlotte, NC 28265 Hendrick Motorsports is currently seeking an experienced Electrical Technician. The successful individual will apply electrical theory and related knowledge, usually under the direction of engineering staff, to design, build, repair, calibrate, and modify electrical components, circuitry, controls, and machinery for subsequent evaluation and use by engineering staff in making engineering design decisions. This individual will work with production management to ensure planning and production scheduling related to department electrical needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Adjust and replace defective or improperly functioning circuitry and electrical wiring using hand tools. Analyze and interpret test information to resolve design-related problems. Assemble electrical systems and prototypes according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles using hand tools and measuring instruments. Collaborate with engineers and other personnel to identify, define, and solve developmental problems. Conduct inspections for quality control and assurance programs, reporting findings and recommendations. Responsible for diagnosing and isolating problems with major electrical systems including battery, ignition, fixtures, and general wiring. Responsible for building, maintaining, and testing wiring harnesses. Assist with tracking usage and servicing components. Maintain the car battery, dash, ignition panels indicator, and other electronics. Responsible for determining the appropriate adjustments to the car's electrical system before adding new applications or equipment. Utilize diagnostic equipment to test the electrical system for performance and safety. Support bench testing and design validation of vehicle electrical systems. Possess knowledge of current NASCAR vehicle electrical systems and other Formula vehicle electrical requirements. Understand wiring, hardware, connectors, integrated components, system function, and electrical engineering principles. Support nonvehicle electrical systems such as generators, pit carts, etc. Other duties as assigned by management.

  • High School diploma or GED preferred. Experience
  • Must possess a minimum of 3 years electrical experience Required skills
  • Must possess advanced knowledge of electrical systems, electrical fixtures, and wiring standards on NASCAR series cars.
Must be highly skilled and possess a deep knowledge of the race car and electrical systems. Must possess efficient use of hand tools and equipment as required by the electrical industry. Must be able to work with various departments to develop and modify specifications. Must be able to differentiate varying colors. Computer skills

Frequently reaches outward, reaches above shoulder, climbs, crawls, squats or kneels, bends, lifts/carries up to 50 pounds, and pushes/pulls up to 100 pounds. Occasionally sits and lifts/carries up to and over 100 pounds. Environment demands
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior environment; however, the individual may be subject to some unpleasant elements, including fumes, loud noises, and chemicals. Attendance expectations
  • The position requires regular and predictable attendance. Scheduled shifts may include evening hours, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to work a flexible schedule as needed. Must be available during race weekends for remote diagnostic issues. Math ability
