Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CMM Operator/Programmer to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for programming, operating, and maintaining Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) to ensure that manufactured components meet precise specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dimensional inspection and proficiency with software such as PC-DMIS or Calypso. Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm. Perform measurement, inspection, and testing of production materials and components using previously prepared inspection programs. Operator performs in-process or final inspections. Documents and reports non- conforming materials as required. Familiar with PC-DMIS or polyworks.
Key Responsibilities:
CMM Programming & Operation:
Create, edit, and run CMM programs to inspect complex components and assemblies. Use CMMs to perform first article inspections, in-process checks, and final part validation. Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specifications.
Inspection & Reporting:
Record, analyze, and report measurement results using statistical analysis tools or internal systems. Identify and report deviations or non-conformances to the quality team. Maintain accurate documentation of inspection results.
Collaboration:
Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve technical issues. Provide feedback on manufacturing processes that affect dimensional quality.
Maintenance & Calibration:
Ensure CMM equipment is maintained and calibrated according to schedule. Troubleshoot and resolve CMM hardware/software issues.
Continuous Improvement:
Recommend improvements to inspection methods, tooling, and fixtures to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Stay updated on best practices in dimensional metrology and quality assurance.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred. Minimum 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment operating and programming CMMs. Proficiency with CMM software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar). Strong understanding of GD&T and ability to read complex engineering drawings. Familiarity with ISO, AS9100, or
IATF 16949
quality standards (industry dependent). Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word). Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs occasionally. Use of hands and fingers for measuring tools and equipment.
